EARTH AND SKY 2023 - VINEYARDS OF THYMIOPOULOS
Apostolos Thymiopoulos’ Earth and Sky was the Xinomavro that changed everything we knew about the red variety of Naoussa and created the well-known “modern school of Xinomavro.” It is the wine that is often sampled in Jancis Robinson MW’s proposals and the one that Xinomavro fanatics, both in and outside of Greece, rave about.
Description
It has a medium ruby color with a refined nose that balances between classic and modern. Strawberry jam, ripe pomegranate, and horseradish give the first tone and of course the characteristic aromas of the variety follow such as olive leaves, tomato and floral notes. Light herbal notes complete the complex whole.
Juicy and complex in the mouth, with medium (+) body, high acidity and moderate but fine tannins. Red currant, strawberry, pomegranate and raspberry are framed by herbal notes of olive, marjoram, oregano and tea. The spicy aftertaste of cinnamon and pepper is long and extremely enjoyable!
